it all can't be so serious, kid. it isn't about you.

Back in tiempo

Holy crap...it's been a lomg while since I've wanted to sit down and actually blog anything. Sort of thinking, who the hell cares what I'm about to write about. Also, because, I had notttthhhhhing to say. Which leads me to realize, or confirm, one thing: the only thing i seem to care about is cycling.  Whatever, enough blabber, I'm back.

So, what's good?

Once the road season ended, it was cyclocross (iPad just autocorrected that to cycloramas!), and time to "shut it down". I hate shutting it down. It's not that I don't like or dislike training, but i LOVE riding my bike for really long distances. Then you get home and you eat EVERYTHING, then EVERYTHING AGAIN, and you sit in this amazing coma-like state and it feels so freaking amazing.  Shutting it down has nothing to do with long distance and I hate it.

So october came and went. I jumped around and played in leaves.

November was thanksgiving family fun. Turkey and such.

Decemeber was all about baby Jesus. Pronounced hey-SUESS. ya know, español chico.

January: go shorty, it's my birthday. Starting my 30th year of this amazing thing called life. Rollercoaster but you know i guess if it wasn't, it would be boring. Side note, love when my bday falls on MLK Jr. Day. Great man, nonviolent. Interesting note that I was unaware of, MLK and Jr were actually named Michael, but changed their name when they moved to Germany to honor Martin Luther. Respect.

Rouleur: best magazine ever. It's the quality of a book with awesome writing and great stories. A must read for any roadie. (Available in roc only at Mac5Bikes.)

I need to ride in Europe. Big mountains. Sooner than later for sure. An article from this Rouleur has me fiending the Stelvio.

Yes, I bought 9 back issues of Rouleur. I can't stop won't stop.

So all the while these months are passing, my training started. And who wants to hear about weekend rides and weight lifting programs? Well I posted a few Garmin rides on the Facebook profile, but other than that, ive been patiently waiting for the season to start!

Meathead: lifting weights. Kind of hated it, kind of loved it. Kind of hated how dirty gyms have to be. Everyone sweating and panting all over this nappy equipment, spraying it down with who knows what that pink mixture is. Only positive, pretending I'm lifting little kids. No seriously. I wanted to befriend some of the macho jocks and have leg press parties. Hmmm, you know how you can hire midgets for midget tossing...we could lift them too. Better yet, my friend Claire said we should hire them for a party, fill sombreros up with salsa, and have them walk around the party with the hat on. Like a moving catering tray. Genius.

Weekend rides: length varies, but the best are when the calendar says "fixie: 5 hours". The coma fix. Yes.

Das Boot ride.

The pro cycling season has started. I love it all: ProTeams (formerly ProTour, which I think sounded cooler), Pro continental, continental, and oh snap, a new category has been born: domestic elite. Not a uci cat, but a Usac one whichcgives distinction to those up and coming teams we see at gmsr, etc. I like it.

Grammar side notes: I've never been huge into capital letters, so don't expect them here, exct when iPad changes things up. Freeflow doesn't always know punctuation. Also, chenenko on twitter has brought to my attention that typographers have dropped knowledge and say that you only use ONE space after a period to begin your next sentence. At first I thought it looked silly and crammed in email, but it definitely has its application and now I'm 100% one space. Might be a good election campaign for someone. Who says the period died and made him king? Comma and colons and semi-butts ;;; have been rocking one space; period, join in. Ellipsis...do you even need a space?

9 out of 10 bowls of raisin bran with milk are freakin awesome.

Lastly, cycling related...can't wait for some road races with hills to start in the ProTeam ranks. Tour down under (swear it's not dirty) is mostly sprint finishes, so let's get some climbing started and spring classics! Can't wait to see what gatto and guardini from Farnese Vini can do against the big dogs. They have been killing it lately!

Recipes: I'm killing smoothies and things like Cajun chicken y arroz soap, but if you're still silly and not on twitter, well, I don't need to repeat myself to you. Get familiar.

February: Cali sunshine. For 17 days. Bike coming?? (have you not been paying attention?)

JETS SON.  aka JETTTTSSSSOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!!

get familiar with this: http://www.mtborahcyclingteam.com

lastly, i'd like to see some type of scientific paper that can related hip hop music to confidence building and self esteem. now, this works only for a certain populous. i mean i hear non-stop "i'm the dopest" "i can't be stopped" "i am or ". when you hear this message over and over, i think it makes you realize that in your own life, whatever you may be doing, you can go kick ass at it. now i'm not even going to start the argument "but rap music is just about guns and drugs and degrading women". yes, there's a ton of negative rap music out there, and i won't say that i don't listen to any of it...but let's be real here, rap haters seem to so easily forget the Beatles tripping hard as hell on LCD and (an artist that I do love---> ) Eric Clapton and Cream on their little baby powder rant. That aint' baby powda!  (ahem, neah nuddah). There's negativity in many places in the world, but, shocker, it all doesn't stem from Marilyn Manson (what's he up to?) and rap music. Talib drops some deep ish.

PS, this is the best album, ever.  EVER.

just remember, black and baggy does not equate to ghetto or gangster. keep an open mind. keep on dancin.

what the hell is up with all that bolding? typographer scolding.

next edition, cali sunshine and new kitchens. oh i'm excited for both.

holler.
